Safe and Courteous

During the Meeting

The leader will raise her hand to signify that it’s time for you to listen to some announcements or instructions for the next activity. Gather close so that you can hear clearly. That means that you have to move close, stop talking, make eye contact, and pay attention to what is being said. If anything is unclear, this is the time to ask.

Apart from that, and as long as you are engaged in the activities, feel free to socialize among yourselves. Noise is good, in the Youth Group room. It signifies that everyone is having fun.

Silence is so that you can hear God speaking with you in your heart, and so that those around you can hear God speaking with them in their hearts.

Silence is the norm when we are walking to or from the Church, and when we are in the Church, to show respect for Jesus in the Eucharist, and for other people who may be using the Church at that time. “Silence” is when we are not talking, shouting, laughing, whispering, poking, making funny faces, humming, drumming, or thumping with our feet.

Electronics

Please keep your phones and music players turned off until the end of the meeting, except in case of 9-1-1 emergency, or if one of the leaders invites you to use it.

Sports Equipment

Normally, we don’t use sports equipment inside the Church building. Please leave these items at home, or else plan to use them outside while waiting for your ride to arrive, or during the break if it’s nice out. (Please avoid any cars in the parking lot, as well. Use the grassy areas, or else areas of the parking lot where there are no cars.)

Avoid Accidents or Injuries

Look, listen, and think it through. If it doesn’t feel safe, then it probably isn’t. Don’t let anyone “dare” you or bully you to do anything that feels unsafe to you.

Your Youth Leader is a trained First Aider. If you or someone else becomes injured during a meeting, please inform her of that fact, and ask for First Aid assistance.
