Thank You!

Dani, Castor, Pollux, Orion, Cygnus, Patrick, Peter, Aileen, Elizabeth, and Kate, for helping out with the Volunteer Appreciation Barbecue. You were caught setting up, decorating, carrying heavy things up and down stairs, and being cheerful and welcoming to the guests who came.

Leadership Opportunities

One of the oldest traditions of our Church is to be of service to one another. In the Book of Acts, chapter 6, it is recorded that the earliest members of the Church shared meals together and served one another in meeting the needs of all. The Apostles appointed seven young men, and ordained them as Deacons to oversee the work of ensuring that all members of the Church were provided for.  The service of young people in the Church today continues that same ancient tradition.

St. Francis once said that it is in service to others that we find our own needs met. Opportunities for volunteer service provide our Youth members with the chance to collect service hours for their portfolios, learn new skills, share their time, energy, and skills, and work together with people of all different ages to strengthen the whole parish community in charity for one another.

Stars are awarded for service to and with our Youth Group, including service projects of the Youth Group for other agencies, and all service to the Youth Group, including leadership, service at Mass, and hospitality.

St. Peter's Youth Group and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul: Partners in Love

We now have two annual projects with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, along with one-time events that take place from time to time with them. In September, we promoted the Paper Bag Campaign to collect school and lunch snacks for the grocery hampers.  On Holy Thursday, we will help put the collected groceries away, directly after Mass.
