Young Adults

Teenagers don’t need adults who act like teenagers.  They need adults who don’t freak out when teenagers act like teenagers.  If you can act like an adult and not “freak out” when teenagers act like teenagers, then you’re a great candidate for volunteering in our youth ministry. We believe that every teenager needs five faithful Catholic adults who are investing in their lives.  When a participant in St. Peter's youth group is asked, “Who are the most influential adults in your life?”  We want their parents and the adults who volunteer with our Youth Group to be in their top five!

For the safety of every participant in our Youth Ministry, including the volunteers themselves, a police screening and "Called to Protect" training is required of every volunteer. It is also required that you read, understand, and sign the Code of Conduct, and participate in regular training activities as scheduled. To get started, please contact Kathy Ervin at ministry@st-peters.ca.

Weekly Youth Group Meetings

“Do you care about me?  Do you know my name?  Will you be here on a regular, predictable basis?” Our teens need at least 3-4 adults every week who can say "Yes!" If you are willing, we want to hear from you!

We meet to plan the Tuesday evening activities approximately once a month, on a Sunday afternoon directly after the 11:30 am Mass. Training is also available at this time, as required. See below for our scheduled planning dates.

Your actual shift is Tuesday evenings, 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm (or until the space is cleaned up and all participants have been picked up by their parents). Hospitality, leadership, and companionship/role modeling are the roles that you can choose from.

Schedule of Planning Meetings

It's essential to plan ahead for each event, so that we can include all of the important things we want to do, and not waste time looking for supplies, game pieces, or our page in the YOUCAT or the Bible. This is also your chance to make proposals and discuss new ideas.

Please watch your e-mail for news about the next planning meeting.
